Restlessness in Thornfield Hall
Returning to Thornfield
A Happy Marriage and Parting Thoughts

As a child, Jane lived with her aunt and her cousins; but she was soon sent off to Lowood School for the remaining of her childhood and part of her early young adult years.  After being both a student and a teacher at Lowood, Jane became a governess at Thornfield Hall whose master was Mr. Rochester.  Jane and Mr. Rochester soon fell in love with one another and became engaged.  After calling off the engagement at the last minute - due to the discovery of Mr. Rochester already being married to a woman named Bertha whom he had locked in the attic of Thornfield- Jane ran off to the Moor House where she was taken in by her unbeknownst cousins.  After declining a proposal from her cousin St. John,  Jane returns to Mr. Rochester to find Thornfield Hall burned to the ground and Mr. Rochester blind from the fire.  Jane and Mr. Rochester then officially got married- because Bertha had perished in the fire- and soon after gave birth to a son.  The three of them now live happily together.
